How Yorkshire Subsidence Experts collects, stores and deletes the personal details sent through this website.
This notice describes how Yorkshire Subsidence Experts deals with personal information sent to us through yorkshiresubsidenceexperts.co.uk. Visitors use the website to ask about subsidence problems at homes and other buildings in Yorkshire, such as cracking walls, sticking doors or ground movement. When you submit an enquiry, Yorkshire Subsidence Experts decides how that information is handled, which makes us the controller of it under data protection law. Below you can read what we receive, why we hold it, who sees it, how long it is kept and what choices remain yours.
We only receive information that you choose to type into the enquiry form. That is normally your name, a telephone number or email address, where the affected property is, and a short account of the movement or damage you have noticed. Form submissions are processed for us by Basin, which passes your message on so we can deal with it. Please keep what you write to the details needed for your subsidence enquiry, and leave out health information, financial details or facts about other people unless they genuinely matter to the problem.
Your details are used to deal with the enquiry you sent. A separate specialist firm carries out the survey or repair work, so we forward what you submitted to that firm. The specialist will then contact you themselves, by phone or email, to discuss the property and arrange a free quote. From the point they receive your details, that firm is answerable for how it uses and protects them under its own data protection duties. Your information is never sold to anyone, and we do not hand it to marketing companies.
We rely on two grounds under data protection law. The first is the consent you give when you send the form and ask to be contacted about your property. The second is our legitimate interest in replying to people who get in touch and passing their request to the firm able to help. You may withdraw consent whenever you like; doing so stops future use but does not undo anything already done properly before you told us.
Enquiry details are kept only while they serve a purpose, which means handling your request and dealing with any follow-up questions linked to it. Once that purpose has ended, the information is deleted. Should you want your enquiry removed earlier, tell us and we will act on it unless the law requires us to hold on to it.
UK GDPR gives you several rights over the personal information we hold. You can ask to see a copy of it. You can ask us to fix anything inaccurate or fill in anything missing. You can request that it be deleted. You can object to us using it, and you can ask us to limit how it is used while a concern is looked into. We will answer any such request within the period the law allows. If you are unhappy with how your information has been treated, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Any cookies the website relies on are there to make pages load and the form work properly. Your browser settings let you block or clear cookies, though some parts of the site may then behave less smoothly. We cannot promise that every page will display correctly with all cookies switched off.
For any question about this notice, or to use one of the rights set out above, send us a message through the enquiry form and mention that it concerns your personal information so it reaches the right place quickly.
